Haunted Britain
71Great Britain, the United Kingdom, call it what you will, but know this, many people believe that this great country is perhaps home to more paranormal activity than any other country in the world.
So, is this reputation deserved? Over the next few paragraphs I hope to share with you some of the often unique experiences people claim to have had over the course of many centuries.
Some of the articles I present here are from personal experiences and recollections, some are famous cases, some not so famous.
I hope that you enjoy the summaries below, each will have a link to a full article with even more information as and when they are finished, so please remember to check back regularly.
The Enfield Poltergeist
North London, 1977 seemed like a normal year. But it was to be anything other than normal for Peggy Hodgson, a single mother with four children. It began on 30 August, a violent poltergeist case that would push the family to breaking point. To my knowledge no other poltergeist case has withstood such firm scrutiny or been so well documented as the Enfield poltergeist.
This case displayed the full range of poltergeist activity from moving beds to items being thrown around and was witnessed by paranormal investigators, neighbours, several members of the press and even police officers.
The psychological effect this had on the family must have been extreme. It was likened to living in a war zone at times.
Perhaps the strangest aspect of this haunting is the uncanny voice that seems to come out of Janet's mouth. It was a harsh male voice and Janet appeared to be in a trance like state whenever it spoke. The voice claims to be several different people. One character however kept returning, that of Bill who displayed anger and frustration and extreme bad language.
You can see videos, pictures and read a full report on the haunting here.

The curse of the crying boy painting
The crying boy painting was a mass produced replica by Spanish artist Bruno Amadio.
Way back in the 1980s the Sun newspaper began reports of strange unexplained fires breaking out in the North of England. The fires were blamed on these paintings and strangely the paintings were often the only things left untouched in the burnt out wrecks of the houses.
But were these fires really unexplainable, where the paintings really undamaged, was there really a curse? was there more to this story than just mass hysteria spurred on by a sensationalist media?

Ghost, Poltergeist or Demon?
I grew up in Woking, a large town just outside of London. Over the 10 years we lived in a house my family and I experienced extreme poltergeist activity. However there always seemed to be more to it than just that, as it had elements of a classic haunting as well, and as many paranormal investigators will explain the two rarely go hand-in-hand.
From the very beginning we experienced windows and doors that would open themselves, lights would go on and off at will, growling noises, temperature changes and physical damage to items. Often foot steps could be heard all around the house when there was no one else in, and we even had a full manifestation that was witnessed by several people of a small blonde boy, seen from both inside the house and by people looking in through the windows from outside.
Over the years people have speculated whether or not this was a daemonic entity, poltergeist, or plain old haunting if there is such a thing. All I can say is read on if you dare, the story is split over three parts and I would urge you to read them in order.
The following events are strange and may seem unbelievable, but these events really happened. You can choose to believe me or not, that is your choice to make but I hope that you enjoy reading nonetheless.

Spring-heeled Jack
In 19th century London the working classes were besieged by two Jacks. everyone has heard of Jack the Ripper, but not so many have heard of Spring-heeled Jack, who in September 1837 began a series of strange and Daemonic attacks.
He was never caught despite being seen by the police on several occasions.
He is known to have attacked at least four people and murdered one, but according to witnesses at the time he may not have even been human.
These witnesses described him as wearing a cloak, with pointed ears and glowing protruding eyes, able to leap over tall walls and even houses and perhaps even spit fire.
